QUESTIONS

  1. Describe the elements of helping leadership.

  2. Assess the cultural constraints on the idea that leaders need to be followers at some times in their work in your work community. What are the major blocks to you being a follower as well as a leader?

  3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of sitting in council with your followers? What strengths and weaknesses do your followers now have that would facilitate counciling-with them?

  4. Describe as many ways as you can that you (a leader in the middle) teach your followers on a day-to-day basis. In what other areas do you need to emphasize your teacher role?

  5. Provide examples of situations where your main task was one of making meaning for your followers. What specifically did you do? What else could you have done?

  6. What is the impact on work-community cohesiveness if a given inner leader spends too much time as a follower rather than a leader?
